Severance Hall, home of The Cleveland Orchestra, is seeking volunteer ushers, greeters, ticket takers, tour guides, and store clerks for the 2016-17 season. Open interview sessions for new volunteers will be held at Severance Hall on Wednesday, August 17; Monday, August 22; and Thursday, September 1, from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m.

Those interested in volunteering are invited to come to Severance Hall's Smith Lobby, located on the ground floor by the Ticket Office, any time during these hours to fill out an application, learn about the program, and speak with Front of House staff.

We are looking for individuals who are energetic, enthusiastic, and eager to provide our audiences with the highest level of customer service. The season includes performances by The Cleveland Orchestra (evening, matinee, education, family, and holiday events) and the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra and Youth Chorus, Cleveland Pops Orchestra, Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra, Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony, and the Cleveland Women's Orchestra, as well as other musical and non-musical events. Volunteers have the opportunity to hear great music in a beautiful venue, enjoy the company of other music lovers, and contribute their talents and time to a premier arts organization.

Several opportunities are available:

Tour guides conduct public and private tours and provide historical and architectural details about Severance Hall.

Store volunteers offer sales assistance in the Cleveland Orchestra Store during regular daytime store hours as well as evening and weekend concerts and events.

Ushers greet, scan tickets, and guide patrons to their seats; direct them to Hall amenities, address questions, and provide excellent customer service to ensure a safe, enjoyable experience for every guest.

Junior Volunteer Corps members are middle school and high school students who assist at family concerts, Musical Rainbow performances, Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra concerts, holiday concerts, and other special events (mostly daytime performances on weekends). An orientation and training program and adult usher mentors prepare students to serve as greeters, ticket takers, and ushers. JVC volunteers can earn credit toward satisfying community service requirements at their schools and churches.

Severance Hall volunteers are asked to commit for the entire season, from September through June, and are required to attend a training and orientation session prior to the beginning of the season. Choose one of two sessions: Thursday, September 15, from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, September 17, from 9:00 - 11:30 a.m.

For more information, or to request an application form, call the Severance Hall House Manager at 216-231-7425 or e-mail hmanager@clevelandorchestra.com.
