The Chicago Philharmonic Chamber Players (cp2) begin their Spring 2015 series at Union Church of Hinsdale (137 S Garfield, Hinsdale, IL) on Sunday, March 1 at 3pm. In Classic Winds, a woodwind quintet explores music from 17th Century Hungary to 19th Century America and beyond. With a program centered around dance, the quintet recreates the sounds of Mozart at his most sublime and applies its varied sounds to Dvorak's most famous string quartet. The music of Scott Joplin, the "King of Ragtime," gets toes tapping and leads into lively collection of Hungarian tunes with titles like "The Jumping Dance." Finally, the ensemble heads south for a selection of lush tango music from the great Piazzolla and other South American composers. Along the way, the audience meets the woodwind quintet family - flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and horn - and experiences the unique palette of colors that they bring to the afternoon's wide variety of music.

Following the performance will be a reception and musician meet-and-greet. Complementary refreshments will be provided by Whole Foods Market Hinsdale. Advance tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors; day-of tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors; youth tickets for those 18 and under are free. cp2's Spring 2015 series continues with performances on April 12 and May 10 at Union Church of Hinsdale and March 8, April 26, and May 31 at City Winery in Chicago.

The Chicago Philharmonic Chamber Players (cp2) is a collection of various chamber ensembles performing under the auspices of the Chicago Philharmonic. cp2 is dedicated to the original concept of chamber music as "the music of friends," by capturing the jam-session feel of great music played by great musicians. The collective's groups have been delighting audiences with virtuosic performances in a wealth of musical styles since 2010. cp2 presentations are set in diverse venues around Chicagoland, from churches in Hinsdale to jazz clubs in Chicago, giving each ensemble a chance to speak with its own unique voice.
