Chamber Players International to Present Amernet String Quartet in Concert, 11/7

Chamber Players International will present the Amernet String Quartet in a special program on Saturday, November 7 at 7:00 PM at Benzaquen Hall of The DiMenna Center for Classical Music, 450 W. 37th St. in Manhattan.

Repertoire will include by Steven Gerber's String Quartet #6, David Winkler's String Quartet #4 (World Premiere), Brahms' String Quartet, Op. 51 and Bernard Rands' String Quartet #2.

Gerber's String Quartet # 6 will be presented as a tribute to the late composer. It was composed in 2011 and has been performed by the Quartet many times, including in August 2014 at New York City's Le Poisson Rouge. The group recorded the work for the Albany Records label. David Winkler has composed over 200 works including four symphonies, six operatic works, two violin concertos, a piano concerto, and various chamber concerti with string orchestra, song cycles, choral works, four string quartets, and many chamber music works. Recent commissions include works for The Brussels Chamber Orchestra, Martha Argerich Project (Lugano), United Strings of Europe, New York Philharmonic Ensembles and the San Francisco Symphony Chamber Series. Praised for their "intelligence" and "immensely satisfying" playing by the New York Times, the Amernet String Quartet are Ensemble-in-Residence at Florida International University in Miami. Strad Magazine described the Amernet as "...a group of exceptional technical ability." The Amernet's performance schedule has taken the quartet across the Americas and to Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. They have collaborated with many of today's most prominent artists and ensembles including the Tokyo and Ying quartets as well as Shmuel Ashkenasi, Robert deMaine, Roberto Diaz, Gary Hoffman, Ida Kavafian, Anthony McGill, Sherrill Milnes and Michael Tree.
