Canton Symphony Orchestra Adds New Board Members

The Canton Symphony Orchestra Board of Trustees welcomes three new members to their board - Dr. Para M. Jones, Andrea M. Perry, and Tena Wilson.

Dr. Para M. Jones was named President of Stark State College in February of 2012. Jones spent 22 years at Stark State prior to becoming President of Spartanburg (NC) Community College. At Stark State, she was Vice President for Advancement, Planning, College and Community Relations from 2005 - 2009. During her tenure at Stark State, she also served as Vice President for Advancement and Student Services, Executive Assistant to the President and Director of Marketing and Communications. Committed to student access and success, Jones led many efforts in the community to provide scholarship opportunities for Stark State students. She was instrumental in the College's tremendous enrollment growth and the name change from Stark Technical College to Stark State College. Jones holds a PhD in Higher Education Leadership from the University of Nebraska; an MBA with honors from Ashland University, and a BA from the University of Mount Union, where she graduated magna cum laude with majors in English, communications and Spanish.

Andrea M. Perry became the Director of Personnel for the City of Canton in July of 2011. Shortly thereafter, Canton Mayor William J. Healy II appointed her to his Cabinet as the Director of Compliance. She has recently been promoted to the position of Acting Safety Director. She has held the positions of General Manager of Administrative Services for the City of Cleveland, Sr. Organizational Advancement Analyst for The Timken Company and most recently employed by the State of Ohio. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from Malone College and a Master of Business Administration Degree from Ashland University.

Tena Wilson, Executive Director of the Stark County District Library, changed course in the middle of her career. After working in marketing and sales for Matthews Specialty Vehicles of Greensboro, North Carolina, and OBS Specialty Vehicles in Canton, Ohio, she returned to school for her Masters of Library Science. She served first as the Young Adult Programmer for the Stark County District Library Lake Community Branch, then moved to Cleveland Public Library where she served successively as a Branch Manager, Marketing and Communications Administrator and Public Services West Team Manager, before leaving to become director of the Winnetka-Northfield Library District in Winnetka, Illinois. She returned home to lead the Stark County District Library as Executive Director in September 2012. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Secondary Education from Tennessee Temple University and a Master of Library and Information Science from Kent State University.

Founded in 1937, the Canton Symphony Orchestra is a fully professional ensemble and organization dedicated to performing concerts that enrich, educate and entertain residents of Stark County and beyond.
