Cantata Singers is delighted to announce its 52nd Season.

"Our 2015-2016 Season is notable for its tremendous breadth and variety-a season that will pair some of the oldest choral music of the Western canon with some of its newest chestnuts," said Music Director David Hoose. "I am excited to announce that we are expanding the scope of our musical offerings in multiple ways-with the guest appearance by one of the world's most noted choral conductors, our first-ever performance in Lexington, and most notably, by finding a new home for our Chamber Series at the Academy of Arts and Sciences in Cambridge."

Cantata Singers' 52nd Season will commence on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 8:00pm in New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall with a program led by world-renowned choral conductor Joseph Flummerfelt. "Dr. Flummerfelt has chosen a beautiful and intimate program of sacred choral music, American songs, and Brahms' Liebeslieder Walzer, works rarely presented by Cantata Singers," said Hoose. "This program will give our audience the chance to experience the unique musical perspective he brings to the podium." Accompanying Brahms' charming Liebeslieder waltzes, Cantata Singers will perform Copland's "The Promise of Living" from The Tender Land alongside other Copland pieces, Stravinsky's Pater noster, and works by Barber, Casals, Davies, Duruflé, Fine, and Victoria.

In January of 2016, Cantata Singers will present the complete version of Handel's 1783 oratorio, Israel in Egypt. Often performed with only the second and third movements, Cantata Singers will give two performances of the original three-part version, first in Cary Hall in Lexington, and then in NEC's Jordan Hall. One of Handel's most revered works, Israel in Egypt is a masterful recounting of the deliverance of the Israelites from bondage. Being one of his most chorus-heavy oratorios, Israel in Egypt features some of Handel's most powerful and inventive writing for vocal ensemble.

On Friday, April 1, 2016, at 8pm, Cantata Singers presents Johannes Brahms' Ein deutches Requiem in NEC's Jordan Hall. Works by J.S. Bach and Anton Webern are paired with Brahms' lush Requiem, including Bach's Cantata BWV 60, "Ewigkeit, du Donnerwort" from Dialogue between Hope and Fear. "The Requiem is an undoubtedly grandiose and beloved work," said Hoose, "and in the company of music by Bach and Webern, this concert will surely move listeners."

The season will close with the Boston Premiere of Arvo Pärt's Adam's Lament paired with J.S. Bach's Lutheran Mass in A major and his motet, "Komm, Jesu, komm" on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 8:00pm in First Church, Cambridge. The stunningly beautiful Adam's Lament-written in 2009 for chorus and string orchestra-chronicles Adam's banishment from paradise with mystical delicacy. Said Hoose, "Performing Adam's Lament alongside Bach's celestial Lutheran Mass and ebullient motet will sound exquisite in the sparkling acoustics of First Church."

Cantata Singers' 2015-2016 Season features an expanded chamber series in residence at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in Cambridge. The series programming will complement the music featured in Cantata Singers' main choral concert series. "This wonderful expansion and new relationship offers the opportunity for us to expand and to deepen our musical offerings. We are delighted that our Chamber Series has found a new home at the Academy's remarkable Norton Wood's auditorium in Cambridge," said Hoose.

The three concert chamber series will begin on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at 7:30pm with a "Made in America" program of songs by Barber, Copland, and Fine for voice, piano, and string quartet, led by Chamber Series Director Allison Voth. OnFriday, February 26, 2016 at 7:30pm, Amy Lieberman will conduct Luciano Berio's Cries of London alongside other works for chamber chorus and guitar by Machaut, Janequin, Castelnuovo-Tedesco, and Pärt. The Chamber Series will conclude onTuesday, March 15, 2016 at 7:30pm with the "Circle of Friends" program led by Allison Voth. The program features songs and duets for voice and piano by Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn and Johannes Brahms, alongside instrumental chamber ensemble works by Brahms.

52nd Season subscriptions begin at $85, and single tickets range in price from $25-$69.
