The University of Hartford's Hartt School presents the Calder Quartet, performing the second concert of the 2014-2015 Richard P. Garmany Chamber Music Series, at 7:30 p.m., in Millard Auditorium, University of Hartford, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford. This globetrotting L.A.-based ensemble, called "Superb" by The New York Times, solidified its status earlier this year by winning the Avery Fisher Career Grant, one of the highest honors in the classical music world. The program for this concert includes Thomas Adès' Arcadiana (one of the group's signature works), Benjamin Britten's String Quartet No. 2 in C Major, Op. 36, and Ludwig van Beethoven's Quartet No. 14, Op. 131. In only its sixth season, with support from subscribers, patrons, and the Richard P. Garmany Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, the Garmany Series has established itself as one of Hartford's premier cultural attractions, and concerts have routinely played to full houses.

Tickets Admission is $35 each for adults; $30 each for seniors/faculty/UHart alumni; and $25 each for students/groups of 10+. To purchase tickets or get additional information, please visit or call the University of Hartford Box Office in Lincoln Theater on the University of Hartford Campus, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford; at 860.768.4228 or 800.274.8587; or online at www.hartford.edu/tickets. Box Office hours are Tuesday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pre-concert reception

As a new feature of this year's Garmany experience, concert-goers may enjoy a pre-concert reception, with a cash bar and complementary hors d'oeuvres, conveniently set up in the Sukman Foyer (Millard lobby) for the first three concerts, which will take place in Millard Auditorium, and in Lincoln lobby for the final concert of the season, which will take place in Lincoln Theater. Patrons may arrive any time during the 6 p.m.-7 p.m. serving hour, with no advance reservations required. Tables will be available, or you may mingle freely with your fellow guests. These new receptions will replace the pre-concert dinners previously held in the 1877 Club.
