The November 10th free lecture at noon in the Canton Symphony Orchestra's ConverZations series, will feature a new program developed by Kim Kenney and Chris Kenney of the McKinley Presidential Library and Museum. ConverZations are public discussions featuring a variety of musicians and music-lovers alike. The series, sponsored by T. K. and Faye A. Heston, takes place at noon on the second Monday of every month from September 2014 to May 2015 in the Zimmermann Symphony Center (The Z), 2331 17th St. NW, Canton.

Kim Kenney, Curator of the museum will share and discuss letters collected from the Civil War, World War I, World War II, the Vietnam War and the first Gulf War. The letters were written by soldiers and sailors from Stark County while involved in the conflicts. "These letters tell of the interesting experiences these soldiers had while serving away from home," says Kenney. Many of the letters were submitted by residents of the community while others reside in the museum's permanent collection. Chris Kenney, Director of Education for the McKinley Musuem, will perform popular songs from the various time periods on piano and the audience will be encouraged to sing-along. The program is new for the museum. "The ConverZations program will be the first time we've done this program with the letters and music," Ms. Kenney continues. "We plan to continue to offer it as part of our regular educational outreach programs."

Many of the letters will be available for viewing in the Larry and Nancy Hoover Gallery in the Zimmermann Symphony Center from November 3 - 23.
ConverZations attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch, and the orchestra provides a light dessert. For more information on upcoming ConverZations lectures and other events run by the Canton Symphony Orchestra, visit www.cantonsymphony.org/converzations.
