This summer, some of the world's most sought-after piano performers and pedagogues are in residence at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). For the next two weeks, CCM proudly presents the Art of the Piano workshop and concert series, curated by CCM faculty member and World Piano Competition Artistic Director Awadagin Pratt.

This year's festival welcomes master teachers Ning An, Enrico Elisi, Hee Sung Joo, Gabriel Kwok, Myong-joo Lee, Yoshikazu Nagai, Andrey Pisarev and Ory Shihor. Several of these guest artists will present special event concerts during the festival in CCM's beautiful Robert J. Werner Recital Hall.

The concert series opens at 7 p.m. tonight, June 27, with a performance by World Piano Competition Jury Member Andrey Pisarev.

Andrey Pisarev Recital
The Art of the Piano Guest Artist Series offers a rare opportunity to hear World Piano Competition jury member, multi-competition winner and Moscow Conservatory faculty member Andrey Pisarev perform on the eve of the WPC Finalists Concert. Pisarev will perform an all Chopin program.

Hee Sung Joo and Enrico Elisi Recital
Curated by Awadagin Pratt, the Art of the Piano Guest Artist Series offers a rare opportunity to hear World Piano Competition jury member Hee Sung Joo perform, following the WPC finals. She is joined by friend and fellow musician Enrico Elisi, who has won top prizes in the Venice Competition and the Oporto International Competition. This concert's program will include Sonata for Two Pianos in D major by Mozart and Rachmaninoff's Fantasie-Tableaux for Two Pianos.

Art of the Piano Student Recital
Students from around the world participated in a rigorous screening and audition process to play in master classes with some of the world's most sought-after teachers during CCM's annual Art of the Piano summer program! These students focus on their recital and competition repertoire while in Cincinnati, and performance is an important part of their residency at CCM. Take a break from the heat and catch some rising stars during one of this summer's six student recitals!

Dennis Thurmond and Awadagin Pratt Recital
Both known for their creativity in performance and practice, a joint recital between Dennis Thurmond and Awadagin Pratt is an event not to miss. Dennis Thurmond, formerly of the piano pedagogy program at University of Southern California, tours regularly in Europe, Asia and the USA, and was a studio musician in New York for many years. He is recognized widely for his improvisational abilities and is the author of Tai Chi of Improvisation. Awadagin Pratt is an internationally acclaimed musician, having won the Avery Fischer Career Grant and the Naumburg Competition, performed at the White House twice, performed with the world's best orchestras and released multiple recordings on Angel/BMI. He is the artistic director of Art of the Piano and Professor of Piano and Artist in Residence at CCM.

Ning An Recital
Ning An has been hailed by the New York Concert Review as a musician who, "combines a flawless technique and mastery of the instrument with an expressive power that is fueled by profound and insightful understanding." His top prizes from the Queen Elisabeth, Cleveland and William Kapell Piano Competitions led to performances from Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall, Salle Verdi (Milan), to the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, China.

Enrico Elisi Recital
Enrico Elisi regularly performs to acclaim throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia. Recent North American performances include recitals at the Banff Centre for the Arts, Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall and the New York Public Library. He is on faculty at the Eastman School of Music.
