Atlanta Symphony's Talent Development Program Hosts 2014 Spring Recitals This Weekend

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's Talent Development Program (TDP), which is celebrating its 20th anniversary during the Orchestra's 2013-14 season, will hold its annual Spring Recitals today, May 3, 2014, at 4:00 p.m., and tomorrow, May 4, 2014, at 4:00 p.m. in the Rich Theatre at the Woodruff Arts Center.

Eleven of the 24 students in the Talent Development Program will be featured at Saturday's performance, and the remaining students will be featured on Sunday. All students will perform different repertoire. These performances will serve as the culmination of the TDP's 2013-14 season.

The Talent Development Program, which identifies musically-gifted and motivated African American and Latino instrumentalists in the greater metropolitan Atlanta area and prepares them for acceptance into top music programs in preparation for careers as professional musicians, has now become a model for other orchestras across the country.

These two recitals will mark the final events of the Orchestra's yearlong celebration of the 20th anniversary of the program. The performances are free and open to the public. Tickets are required, and are available at aso.org.
