Ann Arbor- Tonight, April 12 at 10:30 pm at Hill Auditorium the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra presents its first ever Middle School Youth Concert conducted by Arie Lipsky. This concert features violinist, Hannah White and is hosted by Evan Chambers. The concert is sponsored by Domino's and the Worthington Family Foundation.

The concert opens with Ann Arbor composer Evan Chambers's The Tall-Eared Fox and the Wild-Eyed Man. Chamber is Professor of Composition at the University of Michigan. A2SO commissioned "Watershed" for full orchestra and it was premiered in 2009. Chambers's compositions have been performed by the Cincinnati, Kansas City, Memphis, New Hampshire, and Albany Symphonies; has also appeared as a soloist in Carnegie Hall with the American Composers Orchestra. Chambers won first prize in the Cincinnati Symphony Competition.

2015 Junior Division First Place Laureate of the Sphinx Competition, Hannah White, performs the Finale of Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64. Described as "a delightful violin prodigy" and a "pure talent approaching perfection," 15- year-old White performs beyond her years. She is currently in her fifth year as a merit scholarship recipient and member of the Music Institute of Chicago's Academy, a pre-college training program for highly gifted musicians.

The concert concludes with four movements from Holst's The Planets. Adrian Wyard will supply projected images of NASA's video footage while the orchestra performs. Wyard is a Seattle-based visual artist and designer.

The First Annual Middle School Youth Concert offers a comprehensive educational experience that enriches in-school learning. Participating groups receive access to a curriculum which includes lesson plans and student worksheets. This program is geared towards students in grades 6 through 9. This program integrates well into a humanities curriculum and will inspire middle school band and orchestra students in their musical studies.
