5BMF's A SUITE RIDE THROUGH NYC Set for 6/13 as Part of 2014 Early Music Festival: NYC

As part of the inaugural Early Music Festival: NYC, Five Boroughs Music Festival will present a special all-day series of mini-concerts on Friday, June 13th, in which cellist Paul Dwyer will perform all six of Bach's Suites for Unaccompanied Cello over the course of a five-borough tour of New York City. Each of the five events will be free and open to the public, and presented in partnership with the following venues.

9:00 AM - Brooklyn Conservatory of Music
Suite No. 6 in D Major

11:00 AM - Staten Island Arts Culture Lounge
Suite No. 2 in D Minor
St. George Ferry Terminal, Staten Island
How to get there: Free Staten Island Ferry from Whitehall Terminal in lower Manhattan.

1:00 PM - Sweetleaf Espresso Bar (Center Blvd)
Suite No. 5 in C Minor

3:00 PM - An Beal Bocht Café (in collaboration with ClassicalCafé)

The first four concerts will last approximately 30 minutes, and seating will be available on a first come, first served basis. The 5:00 program will last approximately one hour.

This marks the first time that 5BMF will present concerts in every borough in one day. Audiences from all over the city and beyond are invited to follow Paul's journey both in person at any or all of the concerts, or virtually, via the following media:

ABOUT PAUL DWYER - Cellist Paul Dwyer brings to life everything from early music on baroque cello to brand new works by young composers. He has appeared as soloist and chamber musician at Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Museum and the Museum of Modern Art and has performed chamber music with Jordi Savall, Menahem Pressler, and artist-faculty of the Juilliard School and Aspen Music Festival. A prizewinner of numerous competitions, Paul is also the recipient of the Javits Fellowship, Presser Award and a Fulbright Fellowship for studies with Anner Bylsma and Frances-Marie Uitti in Amsterdam. Paul holds degrees from Oberlin Conservatory and the University of Michigan, where he was teaching assistant to Richard Aaron.
