In the world today, people are often faced with the ugliness of some people's thoughts and actions, but rarely take a stand to make a difference.

In "Intruders," author Zhen Lyu introduces her audience to a world of adventure and mythical beasts. Lyu creates a place where not only have humans never seen giants, but giants have never seen humans.

"There is not an absolute camp of justice or evil," Lyu said. "We are forced to see that just because something is different, doesn't mean it's wrong."

Lyu creates a world that not only shows what could happen if unwanted and unknown intruders came, but also the world we have today where we ignore the environment around us and take it for granted.

"I wanted to create a reason for people to remember that we should express gratitude toward other living creatures," Lyu said. "We have been making use of other animals to satisfy ourselves for a long time, but we hold no feeling of gratitude to nature for serving as our resources. That needs to change."
