Author Beth Chapman chose to forgo a promotion after 35 years in the business world in preference for a brave, new life alone in nature. In her new book, "Whispered Grace" (published by Balboa Press), she shares the musings and pauses that brought her back to her roots - a heart that feels and eyes that see.

"In a fast-paced world where technology drives us to multitasking and our to-do lists simply grow larger with each new app on the phone, we postpone life," Chapman says. "In becoming hooked up and connected we have neglected the basic and most primordial and vibrant energy - the heart."

It was only in the silence of nature, after deciding to give up life as she knew it, that Chapman was able to finally hear the whispers of life. It was while walking the mountains and mesa of southern Colorado that she began to learn nature's rhythm - and her own.

In "Whispered Grace," Chapman shares short meditations on love, healing and affirmation of life, among other topics. She points each meditation to something in the world with no other advice, in hopes she will trigger her readers' ears to hear and their voices to speak.

"Life is a remarkable gift," Chapman says. "Joy, love and simple awe abound in everyday objects and nature. We have but to pause and listen."
