Growing up in a single-parent home in a poverty-stricken area, the Sweigart brothers always looked to imagination to escape from their unhappy childhoods. Although the brothers both overcame their roots in poverty, the spirit of imagination never left, and they worked together to write their first novel.

While not autobiographical, the story of their protagonist, Jake, strongly reflects parts of the two brothers' story. "Two Ticket Ride" follows Jake on his journey as a retired military man attempting to fit back into civilian society and dealing with infidelity, a fractured family dynamic, and forgiveness.

The authors hope to teach readers that a person's past should not define him or her. "You must embrace the past, challenge your demons and live for today," Bernie Sweigart said.

The Sweigart Brothers are donating a percentage of the proceeds from "Two Ticket Ride" to the Wounded Warrior Project.
