According to Variety, Tommy Lee Jones has officially signed on to join Matt Damon in the next film in the 'BOURNE' franchise.

Jeremy Renner's 'Aaron Cross,' succeeded Damon's 'Jason Bourne' in the previous film THE BOURNE LEGACY. Universal had previously set up the next installment to star Renner, but backtracked once Paul Greengrass agreed to return, and in turn, Damon.

With Damon and Paul Greengrass back to direct, Alicia Vikander and Julia Stiles are also set to return.

The first 'Bourne' film THE BOURNE IDENTITY hit theaters in 2002, based on Robert Ludlum's novel of the same name. THE BOURNE SUPREMACY (2004), THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM (2007) and THE BOURNE LEGACY (2012) followed. The series centers on Jason Bourne (Damon), a man suffering from memory loss who attempts to discover his true identity while entrenched in a CIA conspiracy.

Damon will next appear in the film The Martian. His recent credits include Interstellar, The Monuments Men, The Zero Theorem, Elysium, Behind the Candelabra and more.

Greengrass directed the 'Ultimatum' and 'Supremacy' installments of the Bourne series. Among his other film credits are Captain Phillips, Green Zone, United 93, Bloody Sunday and more. He is currently working on The Ballad of Richard Jewell.

Jones will next appear in Criminal and recently graced the big screen in The Homesman, The Family and Lincoln. Among his big movie credits are The Fugitive, the Men in Black series, No Country for Old Men, Natural Born Killers and more.
