The Southern American states have once practiced the farming system of sharecropping. This style of farming gives the tenant access to the landowner's lands as long as he gives out a percentage of the crop yield. This kind of arrangement between tenant and landowner can either be beneficial or damaging to their relationship. In "Together We Can Make It," author Yvette Brooks Tyler has written an enthralling book that captures the flavor and traditions of a bygone era where sharecropping and the landowner and tenant relationship still exist.

Yvette Brooks Tyler was born and raised in a rural south area called Bellevue, La.. After graduating from Sunset High School, Tyler went on to receive a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from University of Louisiana at Lafayette and Potsdam University in Potsdam, New York. Tyler currently resides in Church Point, La. with her husband. The couple has been married for 27 years. They have two children Todd Tyler, Jr. and Kelly Tyler and two grandchildren, Karson Kole and Macey. Tyler is a proud military dependent wife (retired). The Tylers spent 20 years in the United States Army. Tyler is also a playwright, who has several plays in production.
