RAHWAY, N.J.

Raised by both foster parents and biological parents, author Todd M. Daley feels he has an interesting life story to tell. His 2013 book "1950s-1960s Fable" (published by AuthorHouse) is a fictional account of two children's experiences growing up in multiple homes. Daley's book was recently featured at the 2014 Book Expo America exhibit and conference, which took place May 29-31 this year.

Tom and Cara grow up on a farm in South Jersey with wonderful foster parents. After 10 years in this loving home, the two children move to Staten Island, New York to live with their birth parents. The story serves to demonstrate the adaptability of children to different living conditions, setting them up to exhibit resilience in future times of misfortune.

"A unique feature of '1950s-1960s Fable' is not only the fast-moving, upbeat story, but also the nonfictional excerpts on important events and people of that era," Daley says.

The book follows a chronological format, peppering in historical information about key events such as U.S. Supreme Court decisions and the Korean and Vietnam wars, in addition to educational excerpts regarding the lives and actions of high-profile leaders such as Fidel Castro, Rosa Parks and Presidents Eisenhower and Kennedy.

While Daley hopes readers take away the notion that children with good values and work ethic can succeed despite hardship and conflict, he also hopes to reflect his own life experiences, education and career in his writings.
