A compelling and insightful glimpse at the world of fur trapping, Wild Pride Montana takes readers on an exhilarating adventure like no other. Created by author Toby Walrath, this groundbreaking new book is based on the author's passion for the outdoors which stems from growing up in rural America hunting, trapping and fishing with his father.

This book is a story about twenty-first century fur trapping that begins in the northeastern United States and follows a trapper into Western Montana. In this work, readers will unveil the workings of the trapper culture and understand why it is still relevant and important for cultural preservation and the sustainable health of America's wildlife. Captivating, this book also delves into ethics and identifies conflicts between trappers and non-trappers and offers solutions. Fur trapping in North America began at the turn of the sixteenth century when rugged mountain men pushed ever westward in search of beaver pelts destined for the world market. These entrepreneurs possessed an unmatched sense of adventure, a relentless drive to succeed, and an uncanny ability to survive. The intimate relationship between man and nature spawned by these early explorers has been continued through the hardy souls lucky enough to know the thrill and excitement of a modern-day trap line.

The proud heritage of America's fur-trapping culture lives on through well-organized trappers rendezvous, youth camps, education programs, the need for effective wildlife management, and the trappers who live it. The insight of these individuals is staggering, and it does not take long to respect a successful trapper's understanding of nature, regardless of one's views of trapping itself. Insightful, Wild Pride Montana is the story of America's fur-trapping legacy.
