Tenika Jennings, 31, invites readers to read her rhyming self-help book, "The Girl With the Journal" (published by AuthorHouse), which draws from her own life experiences and challenges to offer readers advice.

In "The Girl With the Journal," Jennings offers readers advice and encouraging words in hopes of inspiring confidence in them. She frames her advice with her own life experiences, in order to show the reader her advice in effect. Throughout her book, she uses a partial-rhyming format in an attempt to make her work more entertaining and set it apart from other self-help books.

An excerpt from "The Girl With the Journal":

"She was so plain so plainly simple, at times she seemed so cruel. To see her smile was beautiful but a smile she did now show. Her true feelings she kept so hidden for no one else to know. I don't know why. I can't explain why she would hide, maybe she's so afraid. Afraid of how she truly feels she just wants someone completely real."
