This book, The Treasures of Little Gasparilla Island, is a story of a small island off the southwest coast of Florida, on the shores of Gasparilla Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, with its varied plant life among numerous types of land and sea birds. The authors, Lloyd Arthur Wiggins and Rosemary Egerton Letts, who consider themselves blessed for knowing Little Gasparilla Island, here present the experience of a little corner of paradise. It is a satirical autobiography about two people discovering a unique island, strengthening their relationship and enjoying lasting friendship with other islanders.

Readers will soon discover that there is more to living than being a solely work-driven individual, after having experienced the joy of living on an isolated island for an extended time. Other than the native flora and fauna, they, the authors, family and friends consider themselves the other residents-they range from Florida crackers, snowbirds from the North, and holidaymakers looking for sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of modern day living. The lucky ones who set foot on this boat-only-access island will have a sense of tranquility and well-being that is the result of being totally free from modern-day encumbrances and surrounded by the sounds of nature. The authors write, "When I stepped onto Peacock Lane on Little Gasparilla Island for the first time, the feeling was so euphoric-it was like falling in love." Out of the hustle and bustle of everyday, the island experience is an affordable one, with a high quality lifestyle often associated with the rich and famous.

The main characters are George, Elder of Peacock Land on Little Gasparilla; there are also Nikki, Lloyd, and their dog Napier and how they came to the island one winter, making quiet an impression on the islanders on Little Gasparilla Island, fondly referred to as LGI. Besides its other features, privacy and seclusion are the catchwords for LGI. And everything about it is something worth treasuring. Arthur Wiggins and Rosemary Egerton Letts show readers why.
