NEW YORK, New York

Teaching kids to do the right thing is a goal for every mother. Anti-bullying author, teacher and mom Sabrina Panfilo wrote her new children's book "The Belly Bug Bully" to encourage kids to stay true to their individuality and understand how to resist the bully's bite.

"A strong sense of self and a healthy, positive mental attitude gives children the courage they need to face any challenging situation," Panfilo said. "When you believe in yourself, all things are possible - even defeating a nasty belly bug bully!"

All of Panfilo's books stress the importance of family, friendship, love and support. She believes that the first step to teach kids self-respect is to make sure they never wish they were someone else. In the case of "The Belly Bug Bully", a stomach bug makes a child sick despite his efforts to wash his hands.

"I wanted to inspire children to continue to do the right thing and heed the advice of doctors, moms and teachers in order to feel better, even when faced with challenging or adverse circumstances," Panfilo said. "The steps to make a child healthy and happy with themselves are often the same steps to help them disregard bullies."
