World War II has ended decades ago. However, the memories of soldiers will forever linger on. It is for this reason that not a few have told, and retold, their own harrowing or heroic stories to families, relatives and friends. After publishing "A Private's Eye View of World War II" in 1989 and "The Devil's Tale"- stories about the 508th Red Devils-in 1992, veteran and author Zig Boroughs publishes his third and latest book about the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, titled The 508th Connection.

The 508th Connection tells the stories of the lives of men of the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. As readers follow their stories in this well-researched military history, they will become connected with the paratroopers' lives-in the barracks, in the pubs, and on the battlefield. They will begin to understand the life and times of many of these unsung heroes who relied on each other for survival.

The stories are both entertaining and educational. They will capture readers' heart, imaginations, and their understanding of what it was like for the paratroopers to live through the horrors of war while keeping their sanity and humor. There are humorous stories, romantic stories, and battle stories, stories about being captured by the enemy. There are stories of men who killed to survive, who lived in foxholes, who helped and were helped by local people.

Informative, poignant, and inspiring, The 508th Connection is a compelling piece of military history that pays tribute to the 508th veterans. After over 20 years of collecting and verifying valuable information from his friends from the 508th Parachute Infantry Association, Boroughs has finally put together a lasting legacy in a book that is as inspiring as the lives of those heroic soldiers of World War II who have lived and told them.
