Author T. Jack Lewis weaves a story of war, politics, religion and love in his new novel, "The Tiger's Den: A Novel for American Audiences" (published by AuthorHouse).

Set in western Manchuria at the onset of World War II, "The Tiger's Den" follows the adventures of Masaharu Kenda, a young man fascinated by airplanes as a boy who grew up to join Japan's Imperial Navy to learn to fly. Little did he know that WWII was on the horizon. On temporary deployment to Manchuria, he meets Akihiko Itohara; the Army master sergeant who takes Kenda under his wing and eventually saves his life.

The pilots of the Japanese forces are facing their first combat against top-notch Russian pilots. They apply their training but find that actual combat is not what the books described. The men find comfort in the arms of the women who provide relief ... for a price.

Thrown into a stark reality, Kenda must grow up quickly and learn things the hard way. At a brothel known as the Tiger's Den, he meets Bao Yu, a young woman raised in a Jesuit Catholic orphanage who introduces Kenda to Christianity; Kassan Hadi, a Muslim woman disowned by her family after being sexually assaulted; and Fang Hua, a former doctor who had been wrongfully imprisoned after the death of a child she tried to save.

Action-packed scenes of aerial combat are skillfully woven into a tale of espionage, intrigue and romance in "The Tiger's Den." The book also looks at religion from several unique perspectives and offers an important political statement about government control.
