Has the true Easter story been lost in translation? Susan Christman bridges the gap between the Old and New Testaments in her children's book, "The Last Lamb."

In the book, readers follow a young Jewish girl as she experiences the first Easter, from Palm Sunday through the Resurrection.

Christman's simple poetry is supplemented with related Bible passages, giving families further reading opportunities to explore. The book features vibrant visuals that create an engaging story for children to enjoy while also learning important lessons, such as:

  • How all stories in the Bible point to Jesus
  • The importance of celebrating God and His message in both the Old and New Testaments
  • The power of love, friendship and acceptance of a child and their family including a pet

The end goal, Christman says, is to help children develop a fuller meaning of Easter by embracing Eastern Jewish traditions, such as Lamb Selection Day with the customs of Western Christianity.

"I want to help children understand how the Old Testament with Eastern Jewish traditions and roots, gives a pattern, a template, for Easter," Christman says. "These interconnected messages tell a symbolic, meaningful story. I want to help children understand this in a fun and interesting way."
