What skeletons in the closet will spring cleaning uncover? What dust-covered memories lay forgotten in shadowy corners of the mind? Author Fang Bu takes readers on a memorable poetic journey through her life as she shares "Spring Cleaning: Poems by Fang Bu."

Bu's titular piece, "Spring Cleaning" uses the parallel of the need to clean in life to that of cleansing the inner psyche, a renewal of sorts that people often try to resist. She reveals that the first poems in this collection were written during an intro to poetry-writing course in college, the last as the author was completing her Pediatrics residency. It comprises a sort of journal of experiences and flights of imagination, drawing inspiration from sources ranging from fairy tales, nature, travel, hobbies, and classical literature to the idiosyncrasies of medical education.

Though she is a pediatrician, the author has a way with words and cleverly weaves them in poems that vividly portray her raw thoughts and emotions. Filled with heart and insight, "Spring Cleaning: Poems by Fang Bu" will allow readers to reflect on their own lives as they follow the author's.

This book was featured at the 2013 Bologna Book Fair in Bologna, Italy, last March 25 - 28, 2013.
