Paul Kenyon, a lifelong sports writer, shares behind-the-scenes stories of covering the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots, college basketball, all things golf and other sports he worked with over his career in his new book, "It's about the People, Not Just the Games: 50 Years Covering New England Sports" (published by LifeRich Publishing).

"The stories I relate deal less with the games than with the people involved. I relate interactions I had with players and coaches and, in many cases, give my opinion of what they are like," Kenyon explains. "From Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, to Terry Francona and Rogers Clemens, to Brad Faxon and Billy Andrade and Tiger Woods and Lamar Odom, I try to explain what they are like by relating how they acted when I was present."

The book includes stories of the many visits Kenyon made to cover events, from the Super Bowl, the baseball playoffs, the Stanley Cup final, to 13 U.S. Open golf tournaments, college basketball games and tournaments all over the country.

With five decades working in the business, Kenyon offers readers insight into how the sports world has changed in the last 50 years. While Kenyon notes that some of the coaches and athletes he observed were "blockheads," he maintains the majority of the stories showcase the fun times he had with well-mannered sports professionals.
