Author Southern Belle's life has been filled with losses and traumas since she was a teenager. She has been in and out of two mental institutions, 12-step programs and treatment programs/centers; all of which have taught her a lot about life and herself. She feels that she needs to share her experiences, strengths and hopes so that others might live. This feeling prompted her to write "Before and After- Life Before and After HIV" (published by AuthorHouse).

This book shares the story of Belle's life before and after she was diagnosed with HIV. The first part of the book tells how she dealt with a lot of mental problems which helped to prepare her to be able to live with HIV for the last 26 years without committing suicide.

"My book is about living and not giving up or committing suicide," Belle says. "People suffer through bad marriages, traumas in life and others. I feel some of the things I was able to do in various clinical settings may help others to not give up on life."

Belle hopes that by sharing the story of her life's journey in "Before and After," it will also help readers in their own life journeys as well. She also would like to encourage them never to give up and always remember that no matter how many mountains they have to climb, life is still worth living.
