EDISON, N.J.

With so much uncertainty in our society, it's hard to imagine what life will be like in the future.

In Sandra Carvalho's new book, "The Guardians" the world becomes overrun by demons and only a few humans remain alive. Among these individuals is a young priest, Father Helder Pont, who finds his way to safety in a church on the East Coast along with two other men, Markus Rossi and Gideon McElroy.

Desperate to bring peace to the world, the three men set out on a quest towards the Vatican where half of an ancient prayer that eliminates demonic threats is located.

Before departing there is an unforeseen twist of fate as the men encounter a young woman, Sita Taylor, the love of Father Hedler's youth.

"When Sita and Father Hedler last were together, they were unaware that the future would bring them back together again," Carvalho said. "My book is a love story of faith and horror intertwined with the compassion for a God who protects us all."

Unaware of the dangers and choices that await them, the group invites the damsel to join alongside them on their daring journey towards Rome.
