"Spud, Yesterday's Child" is set during the 1930's where America was going through a great financial crisis. Jobs were at an all time low and families were separated due to the lack of resources. Children were sent away to orphanages in order for them to live and parents frantically searched for jobs in order to survive themselves. One such child was Michael McKinney, otherwise known as Spud. This eye-opening book shows how he ended up spending his first seventeen years in foster homes or orphanages.

This book gives readers insight on how it was to live through those trying times and how such situations can change a person's life forever.

About the Author
Padric McDuffie was reared in Wyoming and primarily in Colorado. He attended public schools in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After serving in Korea with the United States Marine Corps, where he became a Staff Sergeant at nineteen years of age, McDuffie attended Northern Colorado University from September 1, 1954 and received his Bachelor of Arts in three years later in 1957 in the field of History and Political Science. McDuffie went on to study at the University of Colorado, completing 23 graduate credits in History. While in College McDuffie married Donna Cozart and was blessed with three wonderful children, Pama, Robert, and Richard. Teaching high school history in a Mountain High School for ten years was one of life's great joys. McDuffie became a T.V. Weatherman for four years, on a local TV station in Colorado. McDuffie left teaching for the call of business challenges where over forty years he enjoyed success going up the ladders of business and a couple of businesses, as an owner. He now resides in California with his present wife, Linda.
