Author Rosalind Hardison's imagination blooms in her new collection of short stories for children, "My Friends of the Forest" (published by Trafford Publishing).

Centered on the beauty Hardison has witnessed in nature, "My Friend of the Forest" focuses on lesser-known plants and animals. Each story features a creature of the forest with a story to tell. The vivid illustrations emphasize the vast array of colors found in the natural world.

"Various animals and plants are in plain view but are often out of sight," says Hardison. "Take time to notice the beauty of nature."

An excerpt from "My Friends of the Forest":

"Then during that spring a flock of birds flew over and saw how beautiful he was and landed on him and made nests to raise their young and this was the beginning of the forest, which will be known as the 'Great Forest' and will be a haven for all creatures great and small. This land was never barren again."
