Author Richard Stoneham argues that an organisation's senior leaders need to pay more attention to managing business processes if they want to boost efficiency and profit.

Stoneham expands upon his ideas for business leaders in his new book "Innovating Business Processes for Profit: How to Run a Process Program for Business Leaders" (published by Balboa Press AU).

"Processes tend to be built up over time in a haphazard way and because of people advancing their careers within specialised functions, managers tend to optimise just their function's work, which is inefficient for the organisation as a whole and creates conflict," Stoneham says.

Stoneham says the goal of his book is to provide guidance for leaders who want to implement a strategy of optimising processes across entire organisations. His methods put businesses first and explain how to prevent information-technology system implementations that result in poor processes.
