Recovering War Veteran Makes New Life After 'Detour In Oregon'

Recovering Afghanistan War veteran Daniel Newcomb is hitching across the Lower 48 and he stops at Multnomah Falls in Oregon. After finding a winter job - house sitting - he adopts a family of dogs, saves a kidnap victim, learns to fly and continues on to his home in Alaska, where further adventures occur.

About the Author
Donald F. Averill was born in Walla Walla and grew up in Ritzville, Washington. He received bachelors and master's degrees from Washington State University and a doctorate degree from University of Nebraska, Lincoln. He taught chemistry for 24 years at Eastern New Mexico University. He also sold stamps for 25 years. Averill retired to Oregon in 2002. He began writing in 2010 and published his first book in 2012. He was married for four years.
