"Understanding Climate Change: Its Mitigation" (published by Partridge India) explains the phenomenon of climate change, which author Ranjit Chavan says is being hastened to dangerous consequences by the human hand. In the book, Chavan suggests measures for authorities and individuals on how they can contribute to its abatement.

"I believe with (the book's) lucid explanation, it will instill an interest in the subject and move (readers) to take action at their level and prevail upon the authorities to take action. At best it could set of (an) awareness," Chavan says, adding that throughout history, the "human race has faced dangers, calamities and came out stronger. The book is relevant because it will inform the reader what danger we are in and how to mitigate it and adapt to it."

Chavan hopes his readers become better informed about climate change and "extend a healing hand by taking individual measures like power saving, avoiding waste, water saving and other sustainable measures. Individuals taken together can create mass awareness."
