Written over a period of 50 years, the new book of poetry by Ramona Cugnini, "Loveknots to Lariats" (published by iUniverse), makes use of a wide range of themes including love, life and cowboys. Cugnini's poetry collection is divided into six sections, progressing in theme from love to cowboy poetry - alluding to the title of the book.

The poetry in the section titled "Lighter Side" reflects the Cugnini's limitless imagination as she refashions classic nursery rhymes for readers to enjoy. The verses found in the "Lariats" section discuss the life of cowboys including the Western culture and lifestyle. The insights made in Cugnini's poetry touch on many aspects of love and life with wisdom and humor, explaining the history of life as cowboys lived it in the West.

An excerpt from "Loveknots to Lariats":

"Yesterday a cowboy would
ride the open range
Checkin' on the scanty grass, and
hopin' it had rained.
Checkin' on his cattle
As a lonely blackbird sings,
And takin' home a dogie
Tied on with saddle strings."
