WOODBRIDGE, Va.

When R.L. Stark lost his father, he felt a compelling need to share the experience, believing others would relate to it. Out of this was born the new book, "We Are in This Together: Reflections on the Dramas of Life" (published by iUniverse) a collection of eight vignettes that succinctly articulate Stark's life journey and stand as a loving and enduring tribute to the dearest people and most significant events of his life.

"We are born, and we die," Stark says. "In between, during our brief existence, there are dramas in life, experiences to which we can each relate. This book contains eight of them."

"We Are in This Together" is organized into three groups: family and friendship, citizenship and country, and experience and perspective. Though the stories are written from Stark's unique perspective, each has a universal theme, such as: his father's passing; his son's first deployment to Iraq; the loss of a lifelong friend; the subsequent loss of his mother; a visit with siblings; the anniversary of 9/11; a 40th high school reunion; and an observation regarding the United States Constitution.

"I would like readers to enjoy the stories because they can relate to them," Stark says, "and thus extract meaning from them to apply to their own lives."
