"After the Storm: The Story of Hannah Applegate Benson Stone" (published by Archway Publishing) depicts the fictional story of a courageous and resilient 19th-century quilter and the legacy she leaves for generations to come. Told in the character's own words, the poignant story of love, loss and triumph over the challenges of life is a testament to the importance of family, friendship and community.

Author Cary Flanagan is launching a new marketing push for the debut novel she based on a short story she wrote years ago about a young widow who weathers a great storm with her children in an isolated log cabin. Flanagan was inspired to build on this story by many of her own personal and professional life experiences.

"This story is about surviving and persevering in spite of life's 'storms,'" Flanagan says. "Although the story is set in a different time-period it is still relevant today. "Everyone faces challenges he/she needs to overcome in order to move forward and it takes courage and tenacity to follow one's dreams and aspirations."
