Author Phuong Nguyen incorporates cultural beliefs and superstitions about death, the afterlife and reincarnation in her new fantasy novel, "The Eternal Wake: Book 1" (published by AuthorHouse).

"I have always been fascinated with reincarnation and what happens after an individual dies," Nguyen explains. "This fictional story is my own depiction of what I believe to be the journey of a soul after death."

The first book in a planned series, "The Eternal Wake", follows the adventures of Evelyn, a young woman trapped in between two worlds. She finds herself on an incredible journey in which the desire to know the truth overpowers her and she must fight a force she never knew existed. In addition to her physical struggle, she struggles emotionally, torn between two lovers.

"For those who are curious toward supernatural beings and superstition, it will be an easy read," Nguyen predicts. "The book is meant to appeal to readers who enjoy fantasy stories, as the story takes a different approach to life itself."
