Peter Rutt Releases New Take on JACK THE RIPPER
In his new historical novel "Jack the Ripper: From the Cradle to the Grave" (published by AuthorHouse), author Peter Rutt tackles one of the most popular and enduring horror mysteries of British culture: Jack the Ripper.
Rutt's protagonist, George, does not live an easy life, but it's not until his wife is unfaithful that he fully becomes the Ripper - murdering a number of women in a particularly gruesome way as he tries to numb his pain. The story is written from the point of view of George's wife, who keeps a secret diary of his actions.
An excerpt from "Jack the Ripper":
"George was not quite finished, though. His frantic carve up continued: he cut her face, nose, and an ear. It was all one swift movement across her face. George then cut the tip of her nose because she stuck it in too far, her eyes because she saw too much, and her ear because she heard too much. The mouth remained uncut, but the chloroform started to discolour the area round her lips, and that finished off the ensemble as far as he was concerned. George knew she took care of her looks, so he decided to make her look unsightly with further cuts under her eyes for his jolly. If he had longer, he would have skinned her. This should be warning enough to the rest of the girls, he thought."
"An unseen group of women shouted the Ripper's name to me in London that no other person heard," Rutt says. "Communication with the real people and viewing replays of shocking incidents followed while I was in a meditative state on and off over a three-year period."
