VANCOUVER

More than 3 million students are victims of bullying each year.

New novel, "The Ghost in the Hollows," by author Patricia Komar seeks to lower that number by encouraging readers to treat everyone with respect and prevent teen bullying.

"The Ghost in the Hollows" follows Faith Clancy, a thirteen-year-old who faces bullying and describes the paranormal support she receives from a friendly ghost at school.

After her parent's divorce and being bullied at her previous school, Faith is happy to have a fresh start at Hollow Hills Middle School. However, it is not until her participation in the Hollow Hills Explorers club that Faith finds out that her school is haunted.

Through her friends in Hollow Hills Explorers club and a compassionate ghost, Faith stands up against bullies and discovers the meaning of trust, friendship and believing in herself.

" I want this book to teach teens to have faith and trust in themselves," said Komar. "Teens can find out what is that extra thing that they have that gets them through tough times."
