In celebration of the upcoming film "FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS," the true story of the American socialite who followed her dreams of BECOMING a singer and performing at Carnegie Hall, Paramount Pictures is helping aspiring singers realize their dreams of performing on the prestigious New York City stage in their very own "My Carnegie Moment."
Inspired by Jenkins, played in the film by Academy Award®-winner Meryl Streep, the special event will give singers from across the U.S. a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform a song of their choice at Carnegie Hall, which is celebrating its 125th Anniversary this year. Aspiring singers can enter for a chance at their "My Carnegie Moment" by visiting the "FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS" official movie page at http://www.florencefosterjenkinsfilm.com/ or www.MyCarnegieMoment.com The performances will take place at the Isaac Stern Auditorium / Ronald O. Perelman Stage on Tuesday, July 12, in advance of the film's theatrical release on Friday, August 12. Set in 1940s New York, "FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS," from Paramount Pictures, Pathé and BBC Films, is the true story of the legendary New York heiress and socialite (Meryl Streep) who obsessively pursued her dream of BECOMING a great singer. THE VOICE she heard in her head was beautiful, but to everyone else it was hilariously awful. Her "husband" and manager, St. Clair Bayfield (Hugh Grant), an aristocratic English actor, was determined to protect his beloved Florence from the truth. But when Florence decided to give a public concert at Carnegie Hall, St. Clair knew he faced his greatest challenge. The film also stars Simon Helberg, Rebecca Ferguson and Nina Arianda.Videos
