In conjunction with Oprah Winfrey's announcement that she has selected Cynthia Bond's debut novel to Oprah's Book Club 2.0, Books-A-Million invites readers to visit booksamillion.com and order "Ruby" to experience the unforgettable story for themselves.

"Full of raw passion and emotion Cynthia Bonds debut is a captivating story that must be heard," said Margaret Terwey, senior fiction buyer for Books-A-Million. "To be chosen as only the fourth selection to Oprah's Book Club 2.0 is quite an honor and it is well deserved."

"Ruby" is set in a small East Texas town called Liberty Township, and tells the moving story of Ruby Bell upon her return home from New York. At thirty-years-old she is forced to relive the nightmarish violence she experienced as a child. She struggles to deal with the frightening past of the town she grew up in as an outcast in the community. Despite her past, Ephram Jennings has loved her all his life, and is desperate to protect her at any cost.

Bond constructs a gripping narrative full of courage and passion while exploring the dark side of man. "Ruby" solidifies Bond as one of the best new voices in literature today.

Cynthia Bond is a native of East Texas currently residing in Los Angeles. For over fifteen years she has taught at-risk youth and the homeless how to write. After attending Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism she then moved to New York to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
