NEW YORK, June 2, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ FastPencil and On Demand Books to Introduce SelfEspress to Help Writers Publish and Print Instantly

New self-publishing platform provides writers with instant gratification through end-to-end creation and immediate print copies of their book

FastPencil, the fastest, easiest way to write and self-publish books has partnered with On Demand Books, creators of the patented Espresso Book Machine technology, to present SelfEspress. The new SelfEspress tool provides writers with the ability to instantly create, publish and print their work.

Slated to launch this summer, SelfEspress is the marriage of FastPencil's self-publishing platform and On Demand Books' Espresso Book Machine technology (the "EBM"). The EBM is the only digital-to-print at retail solution in the world. Within minutes, the EBM can produce a bookstore quality paperback with color cover, in any standard trim size, at point of sale. Through the SelfEspress software, writers can format, design, edit and upload their book to an EBM for immediate printing, with the additional option of creating an eBook format suitable for e-readers.

"FastPencil's partnership with On Demand Books aims to revolutionize self-publishing by providing the instant gratification of seeing your title in print immediately after publishing," FastPencil co-founder and President Steve Wilson said. "The addition of an instant print button to FastPencil's vast array of tools differentiates our self-publishing platform and turns a writer's manuscript into a tangible finished product available for immediate pickup at retail locations, libraries or other venues."

SelfEspress software provides writers with unprecedented tools for publishing their book, with features like automated template-based interior layout, cover design tools, pre-flight of print-ready files, and easy access to distribution channels. The tool allows authors to easily collaborate, while taking advantage of the self-publishing platform's editing features. Writers looking to distribute their work will have the ability to utilize a vast distribution network, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kindle, iPad, Sony eReaders, and the entire Ingram Network.

"This will be the only service that allows a writer to create, publish and print in a matter of minutes," said Lauren Lung, COO of On Demand Books. "Our partnership will allow for instantaneous printing of books, whether by a seasoned author, a first-time self-publisher or a mom creating a bedtime story for her children. We're taking the complexity out of creation, publishing and printing for everyone."

Once launched, on-demand printing of self-published titles will be available at all participating Espresso Book Machine retailers, as well as through overnight print services.
