STUART, Fla.

It is the end of World War II and two young Allied soldiers find themselves behind enemy lines, faced with survival and temptation in the new historical fiction "The Tangled Web: The Spoils of War in the Hands of the Good and Evil" (published by Trafford Publishing) by author Kenneth Ricklefs.

In this absorbing narrative, two soldiers stumble upon a treasure trove while escaping the throes of battle. As they navigate the woods of France, they encounter the French Resistance and make a secret pact that will impact not only their lives, but also the lives of their children for the next 60 years.

An excerpt from "The Tangled Web":

"Even though Sean was reluctant to leave Maria, he was also chomping at the bit to get back to England and talk to Peter. The papers he found in the black bag, which Billy had tried to escape with, were a revelation. (...) He wondered if Peter had any idea what their fathers had been up to these past twenty or so years. He and his father, Oliver, were never on the best of terms. Maybe Peter did have some of the ugly facts. Maybe he just never told me about them."
