Bob Samedi blends genres and their conventions, crafting a space-age alloy of irony, romance and drama with his near-future science fiction tale, "Where's Kevin? I want to tell him I love him!" (published by Xlibris UK). The new novel examines the dizzying pace of technological progress, contrasting its quantum leaps with cultural and societal attitudes that, according to him, "seem to develop at a much slower pace (if they develop at all)."

The narrative follows Kevin, a technology officer on a shuttle rescue mission. It is the first mission of a newly formed venture between the European Space Agency and NASA, but the shuttle and crew are abducted before the rescue mission is complete and are forced to compete as gladiators for the pleasure of alien nations watching remotely. Whether his team's exploits or their characters have a peculiar effect on the watchers, is unknown. What is known is that while the aliens' science and technology has progressed light years ahead of humanity, their culture and civilization apparently has not, remaining reliant on an anachronistic bloodsport-reality television hybrid for entertainment.

Written by Samedi with the intent "to comment without rancor, to poke fun at boorish behaviour," the pages of "Where's Kevin? I want to tell him I love him!" is suffused with horror, adventure, love and a soupcon of lust - and, of course, a liberal dusting of irony and humour.
