For author Mbono Vision Dube, "Mothers, especially those endowed with womanhood, will ever remain precious, influential and inspirational." Thus, in her novel, "My Mother" (published by Xlibris UK), she tells of the life of a particular woman who weathers many storms in her life and came out victorious.

Lindokuhle Bakwena is encouraged to go to school by her mother and grandmother against her father's wishes for her to get married. While at school, her mentor, Miss Greta, makes her work hard for her grades, her fees and her future through stone crushing, knitting, sewing, crocheting and many other menial jobs. This background toughens her and she later becomes a popular teacher, a devoted wife and mother amidst abuse from her husband.

Showing how a mother fights all barriers that impede their progress, how they fight to improve lives of their children and husbands, Dube hopes that the mother's unselfish nature in the story can appeal to any reader who has a mother or mother figure to emulate the characters or continue being the best and strong household foundation that they are. Truly relatable, "My Mother" is a strong call for all women out there to be empowered and to show the world how a mother's resilience and perseverance change lives.
