Don Tolle was a student of music from the time he was young. His ever-changing record collection, which numbered about 20 vinyl at any given time, was his most prized possession.

Today Tolle celebrates a more-than-40-year career in the music industry with the release of his new memoir "For the Record: A Musical Odyssey" (published by iUniverse).

In "For the Record," Tolle writes of his music-industry career, beginning in the 1970s and continuing to the present day. He aims to show readers the power of dreams, faith in oneself and determination to reach goals that often seem too lofty to obtain.

"Generations come and go, but basic human characteristics and desires never change," Tolle says. "Love, loss, passion and ambition are ingredients in all significant human endeavors."

Within the pages of his new book, readers can expect to meet various major players in the record business from Jim Glaser, an emerging artist for whom Tolle produced records in the '70s, to Harold Childs, an executive at A&M Records.

"For the Record" is a personal account of what it was like to be a "record man" during the glory days of the music business, exemplifying its hits, misses, highs and lows. Readers can learn more about Tolle's current work in music at tollesongs.com.
