"Auntie Bev's Home-style Cuisine" is a cookbook with the added features of guidelines to healthy lifestyle and the historic background of certain menu that give it a truly multicultural aspect. The recipes are predominantly a combination of American and Jamaican cuisine that the author was able to learn during her immersion in both cultures. In addition to the recipes, there are various tips/notes for the cook, as well as the history of some of items such as the Bundt cake, the sorrel plant and its flower and more.

This book was predominantly written to give readers a taste of cuisine from both American and Jamaican cultures, while helping readers live a healthy life.

About the Author
Born and raised in the parish of west rural Saint Andrew, Jamaica, West Indies, Beverley D. Thomas-Smith is the first of six children for her parents. She grew up in a large family where everyone likes to cook and bake, hence her passion for the culinary arts started at an early age. Thomas-Smith migrated to the United States in 1992 and has been working in the healthcare industry for over 20 years now. She holds a bachelor's degree in health services administration and a master's degree in public health. In addition to cooking, baking and entertaining, she also likes reading, gardening and listening to music of various types. Thomas-Smith or "Auntie Bev" as she is affectionately called resides in the Bronx, N.Y. with her family for the past 22 years. This book, "Auntie Bev's Home-Style Cuisine" is her first book.
