Diamondhead, Miss.

In St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, author Fred G. Womack tried to come to grips with what he had just learned: his 6-year-old daughter, Kim, had terminal cancer. In his memoir, "Kim: A Dying Child's Spiritual Legacy" (published by WestBow Press), Womack exposes the reality of a minister challenged with one of the most harrowing experiences a father can endure.

Womack doesn't shy from the true nature of death and the pain and grief he endured. However, this memoir is the story of hope amid tragedy as Womack saw God providing comfort to his daughter and his family.

When asked why his book would appeal to readers, Womack said, "Because it deals with the supreme issues of existence; giving evidence that hope can indeed overpower despair and documents that the most precious commodity of reality, the soul, can survive death."

Womack comes to realize that God was present even in the face of his daughter's diagnosis. He writes of how she became a tool for God's purpose. His faith is reaffirmed in the hope his daughter provides through her courage and steadfast trust in God throughout her illness. Womack hopes that this book will bring comfort and trust in God to families enduring similar tragedies.
