TIVOLI, Italy

Author Luigi Battisti creates a vivid, desolate image of a nuclear apocalypse as seen through the eyes of schoolchildren and their teachers in his new work of fiction, "Tapekalyfthenta" (published by AuthorHouse).

In "Tapekalyfthenta," Battisti describes a device of his own creation, the TAP device. He has been studying the energy production by nuclear fusion for more than a year, and eventually, he found a way to harness it, which he calls TAP. The TAP device was Battisti's inspiration for the novel, as he believes it could work and can be implemented.

Set in the not-so-distant future, "Tapekalyfthenta" depicts a new world order that threatens Earth's destruction. The Great Drake, the greedy head of the Chinese mafia, has big plans for world domination. He manipulates the United States, Russia and their allies into nuclear war, which starts a devastating chain of events.

Meanwhile, three Italian teachers and their students, who are on a school trip in the Netherlands, must journey across Europe to reach home safely. Their path becomes increasingly treacherous as the group becomes involved in events bigger than anything they could have imagined.

"It is an enthralling story that gives special prominence to the evils of our present times," Battisti says. "There is a plot rich in coups de théâtre with a right mixture of imaginative and realistic elements. The story is fluent like a movie and develops into various and different environments."
