WERRIBEE, Australia

In his new photo-book, "Mombasa Revisited" (published by Xlibris), Neil McClure captures the essence of the historic port city of Mombasa through an absorbing compilation of photographs. He draws inspiration from the strength and resilience of the people of Mombasa amidst a climate of corruption and threats of terrorism. This collection encompasses overlapping genres such as street photography, documentary photography, portraits and landscape to portray both the energy and spirit of Mombasa, its people and its lifestyle.

Mombasa is located on the east coast of Africa and is the second largest city in Kenya. Overlooking the Indian Ocean, it is a lively and fervent metropolis that is overflowing with color and contrast. Mombasa's diverse multicultural community is made up of people of various religious backgrounds, such as Christians, Muslims and Hindus. The people hail from a mixture of tribal and ethnic roots. Such diversity makes for an interesting place full of very interesting people with a deep understanding of community, tolerance and cooperation. The images in this book were captured on four separate trips to Mombasa and surrounding areas over a five-year period from 2009 to 2014.

Through "Mombasa Revisited," author McClure hopes to demystify the misconceptions and sharpen the perceptions of people on what they think of Kenya. He offers an unromanticized view of Kenya and reveals a sincere, real outlook through the lenses of his camera.
